The Role

As Head of Engineering, you will own Sitaara’s technology function and be a core member of the company’s leadership team.

You’ll work directly with the founders to translate our product and company vision into technology strategy, architecture and execution.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll make key architecture decisions, contribute directly to critical parts of the codebase, build and lead the engineering team, and establish how we build software as a company.

We’re still early enough that many foundational decisions are yet to be made. You won’t be inheriting a large engineering organisation — you’ll be helping build one.

What You’ll Do

• Own Sitaara’s technology strategy and architecture as the product scales

• Lead the evolution of our Flutter mobile app, Go backend, PostgreSQL databases and cloud infrastructure

• Own the architecture behind retrieval, RAG, embeddings, recommendations, personalisation and other AI-driven product experiences

• Partner closely with the founders on product and translate business priorities into a clear technical roadmap

• Build, mentor and lead a high-quality engineering team

• Stay hands-on with critical parts of the codebase, technical problem-solving and code reviews

• Establish strong engineering practices across testing, documentation, CI/CD and release processes

• Own reliability, security, performance and infrastructure cost as Sitaara scales

• Make thoughtful build-vs-buy decisions across the technology stack

What We’re Looking For

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a technical leadership role

• Strong backend experience with Go, Python or Node.js — Go preferred

• Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including database design, optimisation and migrations

• Experience with Flutter/Dart or React Native — Flutter preferred

• Experience with AWS, GCP or Azure

• Strong understanding of API design, architecture and CI/CD

• Experience building and leading engineering teams

• Strong product mindset and ability to translate user and business needs into technical decisions

• Comfortable working hands-on while also thinking about architecture, team and long-term scalability

• Strong plus: Experience with vector databases, embeddings, RAG systems, AI/ML infrastructure, recommendations, personalisation, real-time systems, payment integrations or mobile analytics.
